Settings
The Settings page at /settings lets you configure every aspect of OikoNotes. Each section is accessible from the settings index.
Account
Manage your cloud account connection, sign in or register, and configure multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA uses TOTP codes — scan the QR code with an authenticator app, verify with a code, and save your recovery codes. You can disable MFA at any time.
Appearance
Choose a visual aesthetic and colour theme. OikoNotes supports multiple themes including dark and light modes. You can also select your preferred editor mode (Block or Raw Markdown). Your choices are saved locally and applied immediately.
AI Provider
Configure your AI provider and model selection. Choose from Mistral, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Ollama (local). Select specific models for each capability: audio, OCR, image, chat, analysis, and embeddings. API keys are encrypted in the vault. See AI Features for details.
Vault & Encryption
Set up vault encryption with a master passphrase for securely storing sensitive data like API keys and private note content at rest.
Privacy
Configure data retention, processing toggles, and privacy preferences. See Privacy & Encryption for details.
Note Management
Manage formal note collections and templates. Create new collections from templates, configure template sections, and use templates for meeting notes, recipes, reference notes, travel plans, and other reusable structures.
Zettelkasten
Configure Zettelkasten-specific settings for how literature, permanent, and index notes are handled.
Projects
Create and edit projects, manage kanban columns, set WIP limits, reorder columns, and archive projects.
Todos
Configure todo list preferences and default settings.
Calendar
Set default calendar behaviour, including which calendar new events are added to and event creation preferences.
Packhacker
Configure import defaults, travel workspace preferences, and Packhacker feature options for inventory, loadouts, groups, trips, and public shakedowns.
Shopping
Configure shopping list settings, sorting preferences, and defaults.
Food Diary
Configure food diary availability, custom meal names, nutrition goals, preferred nutrition data source (Open Food Facts or USDA), and optional USDA API key.
Budget
Set your currency, manage budget categories, configure spending alert thresholds, and manage payee rules.
Notifications
Enable browser notifications for in-app alerts and toggle web push delivery. Push notifications require browser permission, which you can grant from the settings page.
Subscription
View your current plan and trial status. Browse available plans, upgrade, or cancel your subscription. Requires a cloud account.

Access backup and sync features. See Sync & Backup for details.
Public Blog
Configure your public site title, description, subdomain, custom domain, SEO defaults, comments, and publishing availability. See Public Blog for details.
