Inbox & Dashboard

The Inbox at /inbox is your home screen and the starting point for the capture-first workflow. It combines quick capture, search, note stats, and recent note cards in a single dashboard.

Quick Capture

The Quick Capture form sits at the top of the Inbox. Type a note, drag in a file, or record audio — your capture is saved instantly as an Inbox note. See Quick Capture for full details on slash commands and input types.

Quick Search

Below the capture area is an instant search bar. Start typing to find notes across your entire knowledge base in real time. Up to six results appear inline with title, preview text, and note type badge. Click a result to jump straight to the editor.

For advanced filtering (by type, status, tags) or saved searches, click Full search to open the Search page.

Stats Overview

A compact stats card shows four counters at a glance:

  • Inbox — unprocessed captures waiting for review
  • Triaged — notes reviewed and categorised but not yet public
  • Public — notes that are live on your public site
  • Total — your entire note count

Recent Inbox Notes

A card grid displays your most recent inbox notes. Each card shows the note title, a content preview, and the note type. Click any card to open it in the editor.

Triaged Notes

Below the inbox cards, a separate section lists notes you have already triaged but not yet published to the web. This gives you a quick view of work in progress.

Process Queue and Import

Two action buttons in the page header link to related workflows:

  • Process Queue — opens the one-at-a-time triage view (see Process Queue)
  • Import .md — opens the markdown import flow so you can preview files, detect duplicates, and import the new notes into your library

Markdown Import Workflow

The Import .md button opens /notes/import. Importing is a two-step flow:

  1. Select one or more markdown files from your device
  2. Preview the generated notes, including duplicate detection, before committing the import

Imported notes become part of your main note library, where you can continue refining them, move them through the Process Queue, or assign them to collections.

From Inbox to Library

The Inbox is optimized for capture, but long-term organization happens in the Library section of the sidebar. From there you can:

  • Open /notes to search, filter, and review the full note library
  • Switch to Zettelkasten mode for permanent, literature, and index notes
  • Browse top collections directly from the sidebar or use Settings > Note Management to create and manage collections
Tip: Capture first, organise later. The Inbox is designed for zero-friction input — worry about structure when you reach the Process Queue.
