Terms of Service

These terms apply to your use of the OikoNotes web application, desktop application, cloud sync service, and any related services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

Cloud features (sync, AI processing, web access) require an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. The desktop app can be used without an account for local-only operation.

You own your content. Notes, tasks, attachments, and any other data you create in OikoNotes belong to you. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

We access your content only to provide the service: storing it, syncing it between your devices, and processing it with AI features when you have those enabled.

When AI features are enabled, your note content is sent to the Mistral API for analysis. This includes generating tag suggestions, extracting concepts, transcribing voice notes, and reading images.

AI processing is optional and can be disabled in settings. All AI suggestions are presented for your review — nothing is applied automatically. You control which notes are processed.

Mistral’s handling of data sent through their API is governed by their own terms and privacy policy.

OikoNotes offers a free trial and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly) and can be cancelled at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

If your subscription expires, you retain access to your data and can export it. Cloud sync and AI features will be disabled until you renew.

Use OikoNotes for its intended purpose: personal knowledge management and organisation. Do not use the service to store or distribute illegal content, attempt to access other users’ data, or abuse the API or infrastructure.

We make reasonable efforts to keep OikoNotes available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates, and unforeseen issues may cause temporary downtime. The desktop app continues to work offline regardless of service availability.

You can export your data at any time through the settings page. Exports include your notes, tasks, and other content in standard formats.

If you delete your account, we will delete your data from our servers. This process may take up to 30 days to complete across all backups.

OikoNotes is provided as-is. We are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, or any damages arising from your use of the service. We recommend maintaining your own backups of important data through the export feature.

We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the application. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
