Search & Discovery

OikoNotes provides multiple search modes to help you find notes quickly, from exact keyword matching to AI-powered semantic similarity.

Search Modes

Keyword Search

The default search mode. Type a query and results are filtered in real-time to show notes containing matching text in their title or content.

Semantic Search

AI-powered similarity search that finds notes related to your query by meaning, not just matching words. For example, searching for "cooking pasta" might find a note titled "Italian dinner recipe" even if it does not contain the exact words. Requires AI to be configured and embeddings to be generated.

Hybrid Search

Combines keyword and semantic search for the best of both worlds. Results include both exact matches and semantically similar notes.

Filters

Narrow results using the filter controls:

  • Note type — Filter by fleeting, permanent, meeting, etc.
  • Status — Filter by inbox, triaged, or public
  • Tags — Filter by one or more tags

Sorting

Sort results by different fields:

  • Last updated (default)
  • Date created
  • Title alphabetically

Saved Searches

Save frequently used search queries with a name for quick access. Saved searches preserve the query text, search mode, and all filters. Access them from the dropdown on the search page.

Search History

Recent searches are automatically recorded and deduplicated. The last 10 unique searches are available for quick re-use.

Quick Search

The Inbox page includes a Quick Search bar at the top for instant note lookup without navigating to the full search page.

Pagination

Search results load in pages. Click "Load more" at the bottom to fetch additional results.
